WEST NILE WEATHER UPDATE: THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED IN ARUA TODAY

Residents across West Nile should prepare for isolated thunderstorms and periods of rain today, according to available weather forecasts.

In Arua, temperatures are forecast to reach about 26°C, with a low of around 19°C. The forecast indicates isolated thunderstorms and an estimated 85% chance of some rainfall, with about 5–10 mm of rain possible.

Arua: Isolated thunderstorms and rain possible.

Koboko/Yumbe: Residents should remain alert for passing showers and thunderstorms.

Nebbi/Zombo: Cloudy and unsettled conditions may bring periods of rain and thunderstorms expected across the region. 

Moyo/Adjumani: Warm, cloudy and potentially showery conditions.

Farmers are advised to protect harvested crops from sudden rainfall, while boda boda riders and other road users should exercise caution during heavy showers and thunderstorms.

The Uganda Department of Meteorological Services says the country is experiencing generally warm, humid and unsettled weather, with periods of rain and thunderstorms expected across much of Uganda during September 17–19.

ZOMBO LCV CHAIRMAN REPORTEDLY SURVIVES ROAD ACCIDENT

 The Zombo District LCV Chairman was reportedly involved in a road accident near Migera in Masindi while returning from Kampala. Preliminary information indicates that the Chairman and his driver survived the crash without apparent injuries. These details have not yet been independently verified. GOVERNMENT OFFICERS ON INTERDICTION TO REMAIN OUT OF OFFICE UNTIL CRIMINAL CASES CONCLUDE — ATTORNEY GENERAL

 KAMPALA | 28 SEPTEMBER 2026 The Attorney General’s Chambers has issued guidance on the status of public officers and civil servants who remain under interdiction while undergoing criminal prosecution, including cases where the initial six-month period of interdiction has expired. In a letter dated 25 September 2026 and addressed to all Permanent Secretaries, Accounting Officers and Chief Administrative Officers, the Attorney General refers to Regulation 38 of the Public Service Commission Regulations, 2009, which provides for the interdiction of public officers in circumstances including disciplinary proceedings or criminal prosecution. According to the legal opinion contained in the letter, a public officer who is still undergoing criminal prosecution continues to remain under interdiction until the prosecution is concluded and results in the officer’s acquittal.
